Cranberry Simple Syrup

  • Prep Time: 5 Minutes
  • Cook Time: 5 Minutes
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 8 1x


  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • Zest of one orange
  • 2 cups of cranberries


  1. Add all ingredients to a pot
  2. Bring to a low boil
  3. Cranberries will pop, so cover with a lid, leaving lid slightly off, for steam
  4. Do not walk away, as this could boil over
  5. Cook for 5-8 minutes, watching for all cranberries to “pop”
  6. Set aside, to cool, but still be warm
  7. Strain liquid into a bowl with a spout to pour
  8. Save cranberries to use for other use, such as on a turkey sandwich
  9. Pour cranberry simple syrup into a glass jar with a top, or a mason jar while still warm
  10. Store in refrigerator
