This homemade pizza seasoning uses just 6 ingredients to make. We leave out salt so that you can add as needed to your pizza. Since we use salty toppings, like cured meats, and olives, we prefer a salt-free blend of pizza seasoning to use. This is perfect sprinkled on pizza, used in pasta sauces, or even freshly popped pop-corn!
Combine Ingredients: In a small mixing bowl, combine the Italian seasoning, garlic granules or powder, onion powder, coarsely ground black pepper, red pepper flakes, and smoked paprika.
1/4 cup Italian seasoning, 2 tablespoon garlic granules or powder, 2 tablespoon onion powder, 2 tablespoon course ground black pepper, 2 teaspoon red pepper flakes, 2 teaspoon smoked paprika
Mix Thoroughly: Use a spoon or your fingers to thoroughly mix the ingredients. This will ensure that all the spices are evenly distributed throughout the blend.
Crush Spices (Optional): If you want to enhance the flavors further, you can use the back of a spoon or your fingers to gently crush the garlic granules and red pepper flakes. This will help release more aroma and flavor.
Adjust Spice Levels: Taste a pinch of the mixture and adjust the red pepper flakes to your preferred level of spiciness. You can also adjust other spices according to your taste preferences.
Transfer to Container: Once the seasoning blend is well-mixed and the flavors are balanced, transfer it to an airtight container. A glass jar or a spice container with a tight-fitting lid works well. I use a small mason jar when I make a double batch!
Labeling and Storage: Label the container with the name and date of the seasoning blend. Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Properly stored, this seasoning blend should stay flavorful for several months.
