Here is a tip: A 3 pound package of ground turkey is more economical than buying the 1 pound packages. This recipe calls for 3 pounds, and it fits in a slow cooker! We save the leftovers to eat for lunch during the week! It also freezes well!

  • 3 lbs. ground turkey
  • 5 15 ounce cannellini beans
  • 2 7 ounce diced chilis
  • 2 onions white, diced
  • 1 poblano pepper diced
  • 6 cloves garlic shredded
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 4 tablespoons ground cumin
  • 2 tablespoons ancho chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons granulated garlic
  • 1 tablespoons dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoons sea salt
  • 32 ounces chicken broth

Topping for Ground Turkey Chili:

  • 1 lime
  • 1 avocado
  • 4 ounces Monterey Jack cheese shredded

Instructions

Instructions for Ground Turkey Chili:

  • Cook turkey in a frying pan, crumbling into bite-sized pieces.
    3 lbs. ground turkey
  • While the turkey is cooking, add cannellini beans, canned chilis, onion, poblano, and garlic to a slow cooker.
    5 15 ounce cannellini beans, 2 7 ounce diced chilis, 2 onions, 1 poblano pepper, 6 cloves garlic, 1 bay leaf
  • When the turkey is cooked, add it to the slow cooker and stir in spices, salt, and bay leaf. Add chicken broth. Set cooker to low and cook for 8 hours.
    4 tablespoons ground cumin, 2 tablespoons ancho chili powder, 2 tablespoons granulated garlic, 1 tablespoons dried oregano, 1 tablespoons sea salt, 32 ounces chicken broth
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove bay leaf and serve with shredded cheese and diced avocado, and a squirt of lime.
    1 lime, 1 avocado, 4 ounces Monterey Jack cheese

How to Store

Storing these is simple:

  • Be sure to allow to completely cool before storing.
  • We do not frost all of the cinnamon rolls, so we store the frosting in a seperate air tight container.
  • Store rolls in an air tight container, or wrapped in foil.
  • Both may be kept for up to one week, in the fridge.

Reheating

These are great re-heated for a snack later in the week

  • Re-heat in by placing on a plate, and microwaving at half power for 30 seconds.
  • May also place a cinnamon roll on foil and place in 350 F. oven for 15 minutes.
  • If keeping cream cheese frosting seperate, add after cinnamon roll is heated up;

Substitutions

You may want to make variatons with different flavor profiles

  • Ground chicken will work in this white chili
  • Swap a red or green pepper for the poblano for a more mild version
  • Add diced jalapēno for a kick!
