Big Batch Ground Turkey Chili

When it comes to ground turkey recipes, turkey chili is one of the easiest! We make this in the slow cooker, during the week, and come home to dinner in no time! We simply cut a lime, slice an avocado, and shred some cheese to top the chili with. This ground turkey recipe is such a great go to for a cool winter evening.

Here is a tip: A 3 pound package of ground turkey is more economical than buying the 1 pound packages. This recipe calls for 3 pounds, and it fits in a slow cooker! We save the leftovers to eat for lunch during the week! It also freezes well!

Ingredients for Ground Turkey Chili

  • Ground turkey
  • Cannellini beans
  • Diced chilis
  • White onions diced
  • Poblano pepper diced
  • Garlic
  • Bay leaf
  • Cumin
  • Chili powder
  • Granulated garlic
  • Dried oregano
  • Sea salt
  • Chicken broth
  • Lime
  • Avocado
  • Monterey Jack cheese

Ground Turkey Chili



Ingredients for Ground Turkey Chili:

  • 3 lbs ground turkey
  • 5 15 ounce cans cannellini beans
  • 2 7 ounce diced chilis
  • 2 white onions diced
  • 1 poblano pepper diced
  • 6 cloves of garlic shredded
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 4 tablespoons ground cumin
  • 2 tablespoons ancho chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons granulated garlic
  • 1 tablespoons dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoons sea salt
  • 32 ounces chicken broth

Topping for Ground Turkey Chili:

  • 1 lime
  • 1 avocado
  • 4 ounces Monterey Jack cheese shredded


Instructions for Ground Turkey Chili:

Cook turkey in a frying pan, crumbling into bite-sized pieces. While the turkey is cooking, add cannellini beans, canned chilis, onion, poblano, and garlic to a slow cooker. When the turkey is cooked, add to the slow cooker and stir in spices, salt, and bay leaf. Add chicken broth. Set cooker to low and cook for 8 hours.

Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove bay leaf and serve with shredded cheese and diced avocado, and a squirt of lime.
